Since Dilip Kumar sahib wanted the character of his youth to be played by a good theater artist not by his lookalike, that’s why he approved actor Zahid Ali to cast. Actor Zahid Ali went on to act in many films after playing the character of the veteran Dilip Kumar Sahab. He himself is a theater actor who has won the Maharashtra Sahitya Academy Award twice and the National Award in Dramatics once. This was the reason why he rejected offers of many such films in which he was asked to play Dilip Kumar with lookalikes of other actors.
