However, she reveals a pivotal detail – Shreegauri herself chose her for this role.
Speaking to The Indian Express, Sushmita Sen articulates, “In a broader context, they have a valid point. It’s high time that talent trumps gender when it comes to casting, and roles should be assigned based on merit rather than societal expectations. But in this particular instance, Gauri chose me. I was unaware of this project; it wasn’t even on my radar. She took it upon herself to ensure that the creators approached me with this offer. I will forever be grateful to her because this opportunity has amplified my voice through her remarkable story. Thus, I find no qualms with it, as it’s not just any story but hers. She possesses every right to make that choice.”
Sen’s passion for inclusivity and representation shines through as she continues, “As an actor and a human being, I enthusiastically embrace every chance to celebrate inclusiveness. I don’t wait for approval or disapproval, as I believe that this calling was destined for me. I will utilize every platform to champion the cause of inclusivity.”
