Bollywood veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan has started distributing 2000 packets of food daily to provide lunch and dinner to the needy of Mumbai amidst the COVID-19 epidemic.

His move is in addition to providing monthly rations to one lakh families of daily wage earners associated with the All India Film Employees Federation.

Giving information about it on his social media account, he wrote, “Meanwhile, on a personal front .. 2000 packets are being given every day for lunch and dinner at various places in the city. And about 3000 bags are being distributed for monthly provision.

He also explored places where food was being served to the needy. “Most needy people need to eat at Haji Ali Dargah, Mahim Dargah, Babulnath Temple, slum in Bandra and some other slums of the city. It’s hard to cover everywhere .. but… ”

The actor highlighted the practical problems faced in transportation for supply due to the nationwide lock down.

He said “Now it is a problem to step outside the house, 50-60-bags can come in a cargo, so it will take a lot of vehicles for 3000 packets, vehicles are not a problem, their movement is a problem.” ”

The problem is not only in transportation but also during the distribution of food, because the people of the slum who are starving for the last few days are becoming uncontrolled and impatient during the distribution of food. This often leads to a stampede-like situation.

“Officials are saying that when the package arrives, people, especially in the slums for which the material is specially packed, are hungry for 3-4 days and they rush to pick up their package, which Almost causes a stampede. ”

Meanwhile, Big B resorted to Twitter to express his words of gratitude to the supply warriors, who are risking their lives to serve the nation in this hour of crisis.

On the work front, Amitabh Bachchan will next be seen in Shoojit Sircar’s ‘Gulabo Sitabho’, Rumi Jafri’s ‘Chehre’ Nagraj Manjule’s ‘Jhund’ and Ayan Mukerji’s ‘Brahmastra’.
