M/S Bollywood Film Equipments is a well-known company in the Bollywood industry now a days. During the interaction with the media, the owner of the company, Rrajesh Mallaya, said that the journey was very struggling for him. Born on 15 April 1975 in Mumbai, Rrajesh says that he started his first job for the film industry as a camera assistant at the age of just 13 at a daily salary of Rs 60.

Rrajesh Mallaya, who has worked for more than 300 films, has worked with almost every big superstar of Bollywood, including every big actor from Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra to Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan. Though it is not possible to write the names of all the films but mainly big films like Prem Granth, Deewana, Khalnayak, Trimurti, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, Saajan Chale Sasural are included. Apart from this, let us tell you that the first film of Rrajesh Mallaya was Maya Memsaab, which had legendary actors like Shah Rukh Khan and Raj Babbar.

80 ft Crane

Like every field, modern equipment was also being introduced in Bollywood, Jimmy Jib  was the major modern instrument. Would you believe if we tell you that Rrajesh Malaya was the one who brought Jimmy Jib to Bollywood? During the interaction with the media, Rrajesh explains, “At that time, the Jimmy Jib was a very important tool for camera movement which was limited to Hollywood only. After that I along with my company and team built the first Jimmy Jib in India. Since then, Jimmy Jib has been used in every big and small film.” With this, Rrajesh Mallaya says that he built a lone 80-foot crane which is being used extensively in Bollywood.

Rrajesh Mallaya says that he was doing the work as a camera assistant during the shooting of Aamir Khan’s film Mela. During the shooting, Rrajesh Mallaya found that it was taking a lot of time to see every shot of the film with a creative actor like Aamir Khan in the camera and shoot it again when the shot went wrong. The next day of shooting, Rrajesh Mallaya informed the director of the film about the monitor, which was available only to a few Bollywood TV Ad-makers at the time. The shooting of the film became very easy after the monitor came on the shooting set and Rrajesh received applause from the entire team of the film including Aamir Khan.

Rrajesh Mallaya, who has done business from 60 rupees to crores, attributes his success to his Guru Johnny Mama. Rrajesh explains that his elder brother Harish Babu, who is famous in Bollywood as Babu Bhai, and his other brother Rakesh also had a business of camera equipment, but Rakesh is no longer in this world.

Rrajesh Mallaya has made the film making and shooting part quite easy by giving new shooting tools and equipment to the Bollywood industry. Given his contribution, he has also been honored by the Cinema Aaj Tak Award for Best Camera Light Equipments. The award has been given to him by Bollywood actor Govind Namdev.
