In a recent address to a massive gathering in poll-bound Madhya Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stirred the political landscape by speaking out against the controversy surrounding the Sanatana Dharma remark made by Tamil Nadu minister Udhayanidhi Stalin. PM Modi has accused the Opposition bloc, known as the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA), of having a “hidden agenda” aimed at undermining the Sanatana Dharma culture.
During his speech in Bina, PM Modi referred to the opposition alliance as an “INDI-Alliance” without a clear leader. He emphasized that at a time when India is emerging as a global leader on various fronts, some political parties are attempting to divide the nation and its people. PM Modi stated, “They are working with a hidden agenda, which is to attack India’s culture.”
The Prime Minister further alleged that during their third meeting, the opposition bloc adopted a resolution with the intention to “end the Sanatana culture” in India. He remarked, “This INDI-Alliance adopted a resolution to end our ‘Sanatana’ culture. They are bent on destroying the ideologies, cultures, and traditions that have kept the country and our people together for centuries.”
PM Modi’s strong words came in response to Udhayanidhi Stalin’s comment that Sanatana Dharma is incompatible with the concept of social justice and should be “eliminated.” Stalin had equated Sanatana Dharma with diseases like malaria and dengue, suggesting it must be eradicated rather than opposed.
The Prime Minister’s address followed the foundation-laying ceremony for several significant projects worth over ₹50,700 crores, including the ‘Petrochemical Complex’ at Bina Refinery and ten new industrial initiatives across Madhya Pradesh. These projects encompass a ‘Power and Renewable Energy Manufacturing Zone,’ two IT parks in Indore, a Mega Industrial Park in Ratlam, and six new industrial areas in the state.
PM Modi’s comments have ignited debates on the importance of preserving cultural diversity and the potential implications of political rhetoric on national unity. As India approaches the Lok Sabha elections next year, these discussions are likely to remain at the forefront of political discourse.
