Bollywood actor Padmashri Irrfan Khan died on Wednesday at the age of 54. Irrfan Khan was admitted to the ICU of Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai on Tuesday due to a sudden deteriorating health. He was admitted because of a colon infection.

Filmmaker Shoojit Sircar shared the news of Irrfan Khan’s death on Twitter. He wrote, ‘My dear friend Irrfan, you fought, fought and fought. I will always be proud of you .. We will meet again. Shanti and Om Shanti. Salute to Irrfan Khan.

Earlier, Irrfan spokesperson was quoted as saying that “yes it is true that Irfan Khan has been admitted to the ICU of Kokilaben (Hospital) in Mumbai due to Cologne infection. But this could not happen. He was neither able to see his mother on her death nor did his mother pray that her son would be cured.
