Dr Narottam Mishra, BJP leader and Madhya Pradesh home minister, has targeted Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor for his comments on the ‘Boycott’ trends on social media relating to the latest Bollywood releases. Many people, including trade experts, believe that the rise in boycott trends on Twitter has harmed the box office business of biggies Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan. Despite the constant calls on Twitter to “boycott Bollywood,” Arjun Kapoor’s remarks have garnered attention.

Arjun Kapoor on current boycott trends

Arjun Kapoor, who was most recently seen in Ek Villain Returns, commented on the rising ‘boycott’ trends on social media, saying that the industry had turned a blind eye to it and that things had now gone bad. In an interview Arjun Kapoor stated, “We made a mistake by remaining silent for so long, in my opinion. Our decency was used to cover up our weakness. We always say, “Let the work speak for itself; the rest doesn’t matter.” We tolerated it far too well. People are now accustomed to it.”

Narottam Mishra responds to Arjun Kapoor’s remarks

As Arjun Kapoor’s comments on the boycott trend went viral on social media, BJP Madhya Pradesh minister Dr Narottam Mishra reacted by calling out Arjun. Mishra advised Arjun to concentrate on acting rather than ‘threaten the audience.’ Mishra posted on Twitter, “Threatening the public by film actor #ArjunKapoor is not a good thing. Rather than threatening the public, concentrate on your acting. Why do supporters of the Tukde Tukde Gang, whose films target Hinduism, threaten the public with a boycott (sic)?”
