Agra metro could open to the public in March 2024
The UP government plans to finish the first phase of the Agra metro project and open it to the public in March 2024. The metro’s first phase will cover a 14-kilometer stretch between Taj East Gate and Sikandra. The UPMRC has already begun soil testing for the underground stations, and construction is well underway.
This is the path that will be taken.
During a press conference on Monday, UPMRC Director Sushil Kumar stated that the first metro corridor will connect various historical sites and famous markets in Agra. This section is being built in priority order and will gradually connect tourists to various locations throughout the city. The corridor will connect sites such as the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, Guru Ka Tal, and Sikandra.
The metro’s second phase will cover a 16-kilometer stretch between Agra Cantt and Kalindi vihar.
On December 7, 2020, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath laid the groundwork for the Agra metro project.
