Director Atlee’s highly anticipated film Jawan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, has taken the Indian and global box office by storm, setting numerous records in its path. After a sensational debut on the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami, where it earned an impressive INR 75 crore nett in India, ‘Jawan’ continued its winning streak throughout its first week.
As of now, the film’s domestic box office collections have surged to a remarkable INR 328 crore, while its global gross earnings have exceeded a staggering INR 600 crore. ‘Jawan’ has achieved a historic milestone as the highest-grossing Hindi film ever in its opening week, cementing its place in cinematic history.
Even after its phenomenal debut, ‘Jawan’ showed no signs of slowing down. On its seventh day of release, it added an impressive INR 23 crore nett to its Indian box office collection. The film’s global gross is set to surpass the INR 700 crore mark as it concludes its extended first week in theaters.
Directed by Atlee, ‘Jawan’ is Shah Rukh Khan’s first pan-India release and has garnered immense attention not only in Hindi but also in Tamil and Telugu languages. The film’s Tamil version recorded a 15% occupancy rate on day seven, while the Telugu version achieved a 23% occupancy rate.
‘Jawan’ also stars Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi in pivotal roles, making it a star-studded extravaganza.
Meanwhile, the blockbuster film ‘Gadar 2’ has experienced a slowdown at the box office, although it still boasts an impressive INR 516 crore in earnings. ‘Gadar 2’ remains approximately INR 27 crore away from surpassing ‘Pathaan’ as the highest-grossing Hindi film of all time in India.
However, with ‘Jawan’ continuing its triumphant run, it is poised not only to overtake ‘Gadar 2’ in the coming days but also ‘Pathaan.’ These films, along with others like ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani,’ ‘Dream Girl 2,’ ‘Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar,’ ‘Zara Hatke Zara Bachke,’ ‘Satyaprem Ki Katha,’ and ‘The Kerala Story,’ have revitalized Bollywood, bringing it back to its pre-pandemic glory.
Shah Rukh Khan enthusiasts can anticipate more cinematic treats as he returns for his third film of the year in Rajkumar Hirani’s ‘Dunki.’
‘Jawan’ has truly marked a triumphant return for Shah Rukh Khan and the Indian film industry, reaffirming their indomitable spirit and global appeal.
